Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I have a question about a recent VIPP survey I was asked to fill out...

Ex-X, then Ex-HCL person here, who is still on the Xerox VIPP Support Forum (That's what I did when I was "X" :-)

Just received an invitation to fill out a "How do you use VIPP" survey.

My First thought was.. well.. I don't use VIPP.. anymore..
My Second thoughts was.. Hmm.. someone looking to justify k–ling VI Pro Support, VIPP, etc and just let XMPie take it all over... but a Lean Six Sigma BlackBelt project probably got started and now they are in the "Justification" stage of said project, and are polling the users as to what they actually are using VIPP For.. hmm there's a novel idea...

Of course, we all know what a Lean Six Sigma Project is.. it's a process whereas the outcome has already been decided, but the 6 month process is put in to place to JUSTIFY the OUTCOME that has already been decided...

My last thought was.. "You tell me how you want these answered and I'm happy to oblige if it will keep peoples jobs.. (even if it's HCL programmers jobs...)

So, (just like TOPS BS), what numbers does the VIPP Survey team need me to answer with? happy to help!!

The only VIPP people I knew were in El Segundo which was shut down years ago. XMPie was deemed the winning graphics solution 10 years ago. I hear the guy who co-invented VIPP now works at Kodak. Thus, it’s surprising anyone at Xerox would even care about that product. It was a great add for Postscript printers and had Ursula and company been competent, VIPP would have dominated.

to be fair 6sig is for manufacturing excellence. when cost cutting, outsourcing, and cheap labor is your focus you don't care about quality anymore. Build junk and throw it out when it fails.

If Xerox pretends to be a software company six sig isn't needed. who writes good code anymore? it's all buggy c-ap with poor security. no one cares. sad but true

Back in the day we were all required to be LSS "belted'. I can't remember the colors, but I remember being chastised for not completing my "green Belt" training classes. I had a friend who screen shot'ed the Green Belt questions one at a time and then sent them to me.

Took the green Belt exam and passed in 1 shot :-)

Couldn't care less about it, but it got my manager off my back. Truth be told, he couldn't care less either, he just want HIS manager off his back...

I remember reading an article back then that something like 60% of LSS companies were underperforming the DOW... Oh wait..here:

amazing what C$@P companies peddle on other companies..

Shall I mention SolutionQuix...

At least they wised-up and disbanded that group. You really could tell who was stupid at the TechPowerHouse going by how much they ate up that worthless LSS trash.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I was a LSS Black Belt in Xerox direct and all but one of my projects were to justify work that some VP wanted done, even though I demonstrated that there was a more productive and cheaper alternative available. Then everyone wondered why they disbanded the corporate LSS group.
