Which is a lesson for you younger folks. Don't get married to your job. Company loyalty to you doesn't exist. You are a number. Manage your own career, don't wait for a RIF to force you to do so.
If you want self actualization in your work, go work for small companies or start your own business.
Most companies of size are like this, but AIG culture is worse than most, especially in IT. Haven't worked anywhere that the leadership is despised more than here.
