When a line managers gets ride of competent people doing their job better than her?
This can happen at bp especially with the practice of handing line manager accountabilities to people with no leadership or management skills. Some of those are unemployed today...only Cov-19 would have cleaned the house. Remember the pristine bp labor lawyers are there to protect the incompetent line manager.
Agreed. For example, on my team, I don't have a backup person and that's considered okay by the leadership. So all pressure is on me to perform at 150% all the time. This is not sustainable.
Not to mention, they're not bringing in enough people to replace them.
