I heard some rumors about imminent layoffs but I don’t care even if they are true. I am mentally ready for that, and I have left aside some savings. I have been preparing for months, since the pandemic began. Some people are in a panic as soon as they hear any rumor and do nothing to prepare. Incomprehensible.

Hope you're not actually seriously considering taking your life if Verizon lays you off. Some days I think I'd be happier working at Mc Donald's. Reach out to someone or take a leave and find another job.
I could see the writing on the wall over a year ago. So I invested in a resume and got me a real job. I see that Verizon is making front line workers fastfood like jobs.
