Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoffs in marketing?

Anyone has any info on when will these occur? Is March 25 a probable date? Any ideas of how many???
Thanks!

Marketing creates so much busywork and swirl to look important, we could get the same amount of work from half the number of people if someone impartial really looked at it.

But people have their fiefdoms to protect, so it won’t happen.

I think there needs to be some marketing but it should mostly focus on highlighting the mobile/online features to reduce branch traffic and interactions. Fintechs are encroaching on our space and will eat big banks for lunch. Investment bank doesn't need much marketing support

Marketing needs to lay off so many over paid people and literally everyone has manager in their title. The funny part is none of them had direct reports but all bonus as managers.. Change titles to reflect roles or cut them. Go Charlie go clear head count in this group and ramp up in the money making groups. Marketing brings in no dollars this is a bank.

BM is literally talking about flattening and 'adjusting' the org in Marketing. #1 Pillar

So now Spans and Layers is Flattening and Adjusting. Wonder how long it took marketing to come up with that one.

That's the nature of marketing. Promise everything and deliver very little. /s

Looks like nobody knows what’s happening in marketing. Because nothing’s happening.

Honestly I feel like most of the competent people I worked with were let go, and the remnants are the incompetent ones.

No area is safe from reorganization. People need to understand that no one is truly safe while the bank is going through expense optimization

Marketing got rid of the dead wood a long time ago. If you haven’t been laid off yet or you were hired after summer of 2019 you’re fine.

I don’t expect anything of value to be shared on that call. There never is. That’s not the purpose of all-team calls. We’ll just hear whatever the latest buzzwords are and ML will check the box for another quarter. Done and done.

Marketing and the Agency teams are safe. They add much value to WFC.

Well, tomorrow there is a Consumer Mktg all team call, lead by ML and BM. Roadmap, strategy, etc. are topics so maybe they'll share something then

The IHA people are bragging how they’re bringing in so much new business they need more people. They don’t sound too worried.
