Is it true there will be layoffs in Technology tomorrow? Could someone in the know and give us some hints or drop some information so we can be prepared at least

Here we go again. After nothing happens tomorrow, what’s the next date you’ll come up with? St. Paddy’s Day?

@2khw. I get it. I was left alone after all my coworkers left too. I do pretty daggone well because I have a lot of experience outside here but they still won’t promote me even though I’m doing the job of a department head. I guess I’m cheap enough for them and I should just be happy I still have a job. That doesn’t keep me from looking internally though we know what a fiasco that is because usually they know who they are hiring anyway.

This "person" who creates some of the "critical" automation technology reports has seen SO, SO many other team members sitting around me (used to sit around me) be laid off, or leave to go to other companies. Forecasting jobs automated and eliminated, etc. Still there after all those other employees have been laid off. Others on my team that do "critical automation technical reporting" are also still there and have NOT been laid off either. Just got put on a new team that does "technical automation reporting". It is important to Wells Fargo. If laid off there are many open technical jobs to apply to and the technical recruiters call, or email, very frequently to try to get me to work for them and their client. NOT thinking that I may not be laid off of course, plan for that future possibility. Just saying not laid off yet, and if I am laid off, there will be some very unhappy co-workers left behind without the knowledge that I can provide them with. That has happened to me when several of my more experienced co-workers, who were training me when I was a newbie, quit to get a different job. It was really hard when they left me alone and I was expected to have their same level of knowledge. Oh well, I suffered and they were MUCH happier in their new jobs!

At least a broken clock is right twice a day. Most of what I've seen here over the last couple of months is just nonsense.

Agreed. No one is irreplaceable, even those who should not be replaced. Have seen that happen at another big bank and they grew to regret it. But hear people make the same mistakes over and over but never have to deal with the aftermath because they are gone by then.

@gyj if a person thinks his reports will make him irreplaceable then he needs to get a grip.

Reading is a skill. The poster never said he or she only creates reports. You know how upper management likes their numbers, whether they really mean anything or not.

@1rav Wells has a billion “critical “ reports. They won’t miss yours.

@1rav long term IT employee and only creates reports? You are irreplaceable all right. They don’t need to replace you. LOL

LOL @ @1rav+19xBRpB0 and your “dire consequences” thought process. I mean I am legitimately laughing here like a hyena. This is either an excellent Troll or you are so diluted you think you and your “critical reports” could not be replaced within hours. Comic gold right there. You must have never been through a layoff before. I don’t even know what you do but I bet I could replicate and even improve upon your supposed skills using crystal reports, sql queries or some power shell scripting depending on the need. Perhaps you code your reports in Ruby or .Net, in which case I would reach over and virtually tap another resource on the shoulder to tag them in while I went back to watching TV.

IF they lay me off from my now pretty long term internal employment at Wells Fargo there will be many dire consequences to their technology reports and then lack of my great knowledge of their technical processes to produce any more "critical" reports and train my co-workers who do not have the same long term skills that I have acquired there over many years. Do they care? Maybe?

One thing you could do is go into the office (if you've been WFH) and retrieve your personal items before you're let go. They'll lock you out and ship your stuff if you're lucky.
