Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

So numbers are back

So numbers, metrics and accountability is coming back

Does this company know what they are doing?

Does anyone care enough to try?

So if you want numbers to matter again than DM’s and above need to stop micro managing!! Stop stressing over numbers, let the stores operate stress free and i believe that you will see the results.

The company has the right to hold employees accountable for metrics. However the issue is, the company is making targets that are not realistic due the the restrictions that the company has put on stores. Talking out both sides of thier mouth.

This thread is ridiculous. Verizon is a BUSINESS. They are not non profit. Seriously? Mad at holding people accountable who don't contribute at a team level? SMH. Regardless of changes, go ahead and seek out a greener grass on the otherwise, its definitely no match to the pay and benefits at VZ. We keep seeing more and more positions, headcount eliminated bc of that exact mindframe.

100% true. Standards around all numbers and if not obtained progression pretty much automatic. Actually more accountability than we've had before. Was not clear cut. BTW individual numbers not the store. Good luck to those that thought could keep coasting. Good for One Team though.

Believe what you believe! It might not be called pip and the criteria might not be as high like it was 8 years ago. But starting March 1st you'll be responsible for new, accessories, insurance, and pull thru with ris being a factor. In the team environment lol. And there is monthly meetings with your Gm or SM regarding past month performance. So if that is not holding you accountable I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the sugar coating tricked you.

Sure surveys might start getting you piped but that's not what OP said. PIP for number isn't coming back.

The survey verbatim will be toward your individual performance So 3 bad verbatim in a month and you're going to put on the process ,so 3 months a warning then after 6 months your gm will be walking you out the door. The survey number will be still measured toward the paltry commission multipliers, another take away is that 80% to 89% is a 1.0 multipliers. But again when you have the general public holding your job hostage in the wireless phone industry, there is not many ways you can win even if you get mostly 9 or 10s ,everyone in our store gets below an 8 for many reasons that have nothing what the reps did or the customers perceived enticement. Good luck. The Gms door is going to start to be closed at lot more in the coming months.

I sat next to my Gm as he was on the conference call for "The contribution of solution specialists to the team approach " ( I had to to do past online training s)and they went over everything, even 3 managers did role plays on how to talk to reps every month on their performance ( the actors school would have been proud of them and their performance) the team who thought it up must have been in a padded room when the came up with this! The first month March will be like always a month for the reps to see the way it works and gives what the national numbers are for performing or not performing and the survey is being measured by verbatim not necessarily numbers. I dont have the space here to go over the call but my takeaways are ,When they walk you out the front door in 6 months the Gm and you will be smiling, the management micromanaging will begin again, thus the safety protocols are entirely thrown out the window even as covid is still with us, you could have a bad month or 2 and you'll be put under pressure by management with no regard of your past positive performances .I understand the stores have to be profitable but I don't think the volume is there to make the difference they want. And lastly the new to renew ratio will continue, so unless the customers phone is broken we will be playing how to buy the phone thru my Verizon or tell them we're out of stock! Verizon should be ashamed on how their retail stores are being operated while they work from home.

So Verizon is going back to holding reps accountable for individual performance. In other words unless you slam accounts you have no chance in avoiding a PIP process. Basically we are being forced into selling how we did on the old commission plan. This company has a serious bi-polar disorder.

Yea reps slammed tablets, hums, all pull through really. The only reason the commission has changed is because they’re getting rid of corporate retail. No one is trying anymore and Verizon knows but doesn’t care either. If they wanted results still they’d keep paying those bloated checks.

Lmao it's so funny listening to all you retail employees complaining about commission. You got what you deserved for all the years of false churn, lying to customers saying they had to take the "free" tablets just to boost your commission. Verizon has paid you way more in commission than you deserved for many years, now you're making what you should have been making all along. S—s when your employer figures out your game and fixes it to protect themselves from cheats like you. You're lucky you still have a job

the funniest quote on this page ive ever seen was “i use to make bmw money now i make bus fare money” soooo true higher end reps who worked their a– off to make 3k checks on average are now getting screwed, and not in a s-xy satin sheet kinda way, they say sell more and you will make money. my commission check one month was a little over 500$ because the comm structure s—s and only half of the employees are heavy hitters. Most of my store reps were on pips consistently and were never held accountable. One team and the new comm structure is basically a huge slap in the face to reps who actually sell for this company. Unfortuanately jobs are hard to come by at this point and I dont want to sound ungrateful at all because I am still
employed, but I am an 8 year rep who made roughly the same amount every year to be making a lot less.

A lot of y’all are missing the point... Verizon wants you to blame each other and your “lazy” coworkers (can’t blame ‘em). Why aren’t you focusing this energy to shoving it to VZW?

Oh yes those same heavy hitter reps who manipulated the old commission plan now manipulate how to do just enough to stay under the radar. Great move Verizon how did that work out for ya ? Yikes, please offer a severance package so everyone that wants to will leave.

@1wfl+19wW2BaO I disagree and im no boom er. The results dont lie. Verizon could have kept individual commission and made it more strict to prevent slamming etc. They decided on a method that never worked in stores that tested it out. Once again results dont lie. New line connections and port outs
are at an all time high for losses.

Last month our store made $1200 for the team commission check. The store manager reviewed the numbers and said if every rep tried a bit harder like 5 more new lines , 5 more pull thru and $500 extra in sales dollars we would have been more balanced and the store would have been tops in the district. One of the reps asked him if we put in that extra effort how much more would our commission check have been ? He got back to us about an hour later and said we would have made $50.00 more. So the moral of the story is ....Verizon F@@KED up! The numbers will never get better unless you incentivize. Tried true and proven. Until this is changed I will do just enough to stay under the radar.

@pbw+19wW2BaO Think about when we were on the old commission plans and you had reps doing nothing all day and never making quota and barely making a check. Those same reps still work at Verizon and make more money ( ironically ) under the one team changes. Personally I use to average 2-3K commission checks but even with the changes I still do the work because Verizon still pays me. I work with a rep count of 8 and it’s the same 2 reps that always have the lowest productivity and try to do the least amount of work as possible. Darn right there should be a fair share pip system with accountability.

Yup and that's why this won't ever happen. Well it will happen once cause a lawsuit and legal and HR will shut it all down.

My GM told me that accountability was coming back. I asked how that was going to work since we are "one team" and do not have individual sales goals. I was told that they would look at the reps individually and if the rep was not "doing their fair share" then corrective action could be taken.

I asked what the parameters of "fair share" was going to be as it relates to store quota. Was it going to be defined by HR, DM, or GM? Was it going to be split between reps from overall store quota or from actually attainment?

My thought is that is a very slippery slope as it is "subjective" and dependent on the management teams "feeling" on who is "doing their fair share".

I believe Verizon is going to open itself up to litigation when id–t GM's and SM's start targeting people they do not like for whatever stupid reason and hold them "accountable" while their buddies get a pass.

Commission needs restructured badly. You sell one device or 100 devices and the difference in your check is like $100. Woopty doooo. Nobody cares to go above and beyond to make Verizon money with a commission structure like this. Y not get paid for upgrades again? Don't we want to retain our customers? Or do we just care about faking growth reports to share holders while not caring about churn or the amount of customers leaving to tmob at a rapid pace?
