Mass layoff in casualty

apparently 40+ casualty claims folks were given the axe this week. I hear from the Iowa office.

to the post about 40 people not being a 'mass' layoff....perspective is everything...if you're in another country other than the US - then you're right - it's not a mass layoff.. While AIG may have 40K employees it has been downsizing since 2008 and it occurs year after year after year...its like a tourtours drip drip drip that has been pre-planned years ago. Cumulatively, for the US this 40 represents a mass layoff - AIG is trying to dodge reporting requirements by making a painful slow death of the US base.

40 people isn't a "mass layoff" in a company of around 40K
