Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Attrition

I've seen three announced resignations just in the past week and a half in my group. Are other areas seeing a larger than normal uptick in attrition this year?

I'm curious how that could impact the planned layoffs, if at all.

If you need any more evidence that the are large numbers of such workers, simply check out the "I don't want to work on Fridays" thread. This is the "bloat" they keep talking about.

There's plenty of blame to go around. Countless ICs have a "I'm not interested in doing / learning anything extra" types. You know, the people that say things like "I work to live, not live to work" and "I work smarter, not harder". I would love to have a whole team of people that all share interchangeable knowledge and skills, but many people simply refuse to expand their horizons.

That's because WF has too many employees who are single point of failures. Meaning, if they leave no one else knows how to do what they do. It's Management's fault.

I would see that as an opening for for a raise or promotion or bigger bonus. Look at the bright side.

I agree with OP here. It's really exhausting and saddening to see high impact, high performing colleagues and managers leaving and seeing newly hired directors trying to just keep things together but obviously failing due to those large gaps left behind. Those directors doomed from the get-go. They're smart people, so simply riding it and focusing on their next gig. I can't blame them.

OP here: I'd be shocked if these positions are not filled. The people leaving have sadly been really strong team members.

We are struggling as it is with limited resources and to have really high performers with highly specific skillsets leaving is going to hurt our overall team performance, leave those of us staying having to work much harder to fill the gaps often in roles we know nothing about (specific expertise) until those roles are filled.

You've got people unqualified to do the specific work slated as a backstop while still trying to do the work we were hired for and are strong in.

My job has shifted multiple times in the past few months due to managers on leave, people resigning and senior leaders seemingly having no strategy in place to move us forward. It's exhausting.

Positions will likely not be back filled unless theirs an urgent need; that’s the impact to layoffs. More attrition =less layoffs

I actually prefer a bonus. Show me the money. No guarantees on how long anyone will be employed to get the benefit of a pay rise.

Bonus, bonus. I would rather a decent raise.

Not in my group. People leaving after getting bonuses is pretty normal behavior though.

I think every year folks hang out for a bonus then give notice. I've heard of a few but no more than usual.
