Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Employee level outlooks

Every forum should be asking the question of what is the employee level outlook for my country vs BTC. I was in a meeting today where people were talking around the issue and I made them come out and say it. There are people in each organization who have been tasked with identifying jobs that can be eliminated in high cost countries and moved to the BTC.

I hold nothing against the BTC employees. I do think our management owes it to us to share the long term plan so we can make decisions for our future. It isn’t right to plan to continue firing people and not make them aware so they can look for opportunities elsewhere.

I completely agree with you. Most of BTC's deliverables are garbage. I won't never take their service for my own company if they even provide it free. Completely waste of time. However, due to Exxon's management pressure and greed we have to deal with these cheap and low qualities.

The practice of taking credit for others work is also very prevelant in USA also.

Each country has their own standard, value and ethics. You are lowering your Company standard and value by engaging BTC. That specific location is very famous for cheating, plagiarism and fraudulent activities. Most of BTC folks have no idea about US standards, code and regulatory requirement. I rejected most of their work due to major mistakes. They also have a tendency to take credit of other people work ( by doing a very minor thing, they will claim that they did everything). In addition, they have tendency to get more work from US even though they are not eligible. BTC won’t never acknowledge their lack of capability. Almost all of Exxon supervisors and upper management know this fact. However, incompetent and greedy management always push us to send work to overseas so that they can keep their high salary, bonus and stocks by firing US based employees.

Green pastures is where most living creatures tend to go.
Pretty simple.

While many posts portray BTC as brimming with opportunities, things are not as rosy. We were sold the whole engineering marvelousness of this company but it's been a total sh!tsh0w. In the absence of any rigorous training opportunities, the least expectation is to have opportunities to interact with experienced folks who are knowledgeable, not the imbecile expats from our own local third rate universities. While they are busy building empires, I am surprised no one talks about the quality of work, which at best involves developing dashboards. I am certain the business can survive without these silly apps. There is no real impactful work. To impart culture, the mothership sent leaders who are nothing but imbeciles and totally devoid of personality or empathy. These ostentatious folks are here to just boss us around. Most of us keep leetcoding at work and consider it a tuition reimbursement while we are waiting to move on. While I like being in the energy industry, do you think it will get any better at BTC in the near future? Since our country is big into renewables (has world's largest solar, wind farms) and considering we have a long career ahead, is it better to move on to these greener pastures?

We even have some BTC continuous business trips to the US replacing employees. Is this legal?
