Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

From the other side....

I know this forum is really mostly a Portland thing.

I’m sure the problems that you all are dealing with are legitimate...but some of us in retail would definitely love to be in your position even given all of those issues.

However the way most of you describe working conditions is certainly far from glamorous and opens our eyes to what really goes on as well. Best of luck to you all.

Thanks for posting this.

Things at Nike HQ are far from perfect. But these days when I drive around and see long lines of cars at churches awaiting food boxes, and hear of service sector employees who continuously wonder if they’ll be able to make rent next month, it puts my gripes about Nike into a healthier perspective.

I have a relatively well-paying job with benefits. Fact is, if you make more than $70,000/year you are among the top 20% of earners in America. And many at WHQ do make around or more than $70K/year.

When I feel like I’m in griping mode I try to remember how good I have it. Honestly it helps a lot.
