Worked for VZW 12yrs. Took advantage of their tuition reimbursement & got my Masters degree. Did multiple projects even moved several states & never got the positions I wanted. The positions I did get either didn't come with a raise or no more than 5% which HR told me was capped. Also, discovered New Hires often came in with higher salaries. Challenging HR got me no where. Being asked to do more work but not offering more pay doesn't make sense. "You're gaining experience" only gets you so far.
Long story short... opted to take severance Dec 2018...BYE BYE!! Lived off my severance for 6 mos, Recruiter called & got a job with a company I never heard of LOL. I only asked to make what I was making at VZW (dumb of me).
Not only have I been promoted in less than 2 yrs I've received over a 25% raise.
I say all that to say... if VZW isn't appreciating you, if you're burnt out, unhappy, fed up, there is life on the other side. It can be scary to take the leap but believe in yourself & what you're worth. Companies are happy to use the skills & education VZW paid for.
Other than that, I had some good times. I love the people I met in my 12 yrs. still keep in contact with many today.
Goodluck!
