Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Got in late

I accepted my job at BB&T believing I'd be able to have a career there, make progress over the years. I was told so by my interviewer, and it was confirmed by several of my acquaintances who already worked at the bank. A little over a year latter the merger happened. Any thoughts of promotions and progress came to a screeching halt. People changed, work atmosphere changed and within a few months it was clear that hard work and going the extra mile would bring me nothing but more work pushed my way. Now it was all about brown nosing and knowing the right people. I've been trying to leave ever since . Still no luck, but I'm hopeful. The merger turned a good company into a terrible one within months. That shouldn't have been allowed to happen, but here we are.

Welcome to the club. Kelly and his seeds of hope truly ruined a good thing with this merger.

Thankfully I've been here long enough that I'm vested in the pension assuming that actually means anything when I do retire.

But like you I'm trying to find the exit out of this swamp.

Hate it for you. Like other HBBT employees no one saw this disaster coming. It’s here now and is only going to get worse. Imagine the line of BS they are using to get college grads to become LDP, analysts and the other intern programs. Poor children have no idea what they are walking into. They’ll waste 2 to 5 years of their careers before they wake up one day and go WTF!
