Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Managers stealing employees ideas

Pass off as their own since they lack the skills to think for them self. Nor do they do any work only steal from others.

I thought Charlie was wiping out these management layers?

@wqt we can agree that employees with good ideas should be recognized, but what I won't agree with is that anyone at Wells is a "slave", and the suggestion is highly offensive. Go read a book about the trials and tribulations endured by millions of people that really were slaves and then report back. Sneak preview: it's NOTHING like working at WF, even if you're the most abused employee in the company, and it's not even close.

Very immature response. You sound very insecure. Do the best job you can do for your team and everything else will take care of itself.

Don’t bother responding as I’m sure it will just be loaded with juvenile insults and not worth anyone’s time to read

Yes, when you work for a company, the ideas you produce belong to said company, not to you, and not to your manager. Some ideas come from individuals, and some are a group effort, but all belong to the company. There's nothing nefarious about it, it's why the company spends a bunch of money to attract/retain talent–its the reason you are here at all.

As far as "credit" goes, any manager of managers is going to look at their reports success as the result of that report's team success. A leader literally can't be a success without a good team, so if your boss seems to be getting a bunch of kudos, it's a sign that the team is appreciated.

The other thing that seems to be forgotten is this: managers routinely have to accept a certain amount of blame for the things that their reports do that may be entirely outside of the manager's control. It comes with the territory. It happens all the time, and you don't typically hear management bellyaching about it. I only mention it here so no one gets the impression that it's all rainbows and unicorns and happy fun times being responsible for the actions/behavior of others.

I hate to tell you this story about real life, but this has happened since the beginning of time. Get used to it.

Dumbest post I have ever seen.

You are not in competition with your manager. You are a team. Your ideas that wells Fargo pays you to come up with don’t even belong to you. That is true at every company.

When you succeed your manager succeeds and vice versa
