Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

RIS scoring and affecting pay is an archaic racist practice.

Sources below. Such a large part of our pay or any of it should be weighted on customer surveys. It's a scientific proven fact that ethnic workers are judged more harshly then their white collogues. There was even a negative survey that lowered someone's pay that said "rep was great but kind of hard to understand with the accent"

I guess it’s nice that you’re so “financially intelligent”. Doesn’t look like that helped you realize the downfall of retail was coming your way. You’re making what vzw thinks you’re worth now, ~$800/mo.

everyone gets screwed by nps surveys not just specific races. I am a top performing rep who use to carry our store and make the big bucks doing it, now im not making anything. our comm checks are like 800$ its a huge smack in the face. I have been a sales rep for almost 8 years and had no issues making money, thankfully I also paid off all
my debt and stacked my bank account as well as financially intelligent.

It's not just ethnic people getting screwed. One of my former co workers, a bald headed white dude used to get at least one survey a month claiming he was racist because some brother or sister couldn't get over on him. Our store is in a mostly black area. Nicest dude you'll meet, but he got tired of it and transferred out to a different store because it was getting stupid. My guy had the executive team called on him like 3 times last summer... All BS because someone wanted to complain he wouldn't break the rules for them.

The company knows challenges exist with the RIS scoring model and that is why you will see some definite changes coming in the next month or two. One change I know about is that a rating of an 8 will be considered neutral.

I work in retail, and live in a fairly diverse area, so we don’t necessarily see issues along racial lines, but I have definitely heard about the issue in other locations. Customer feedback is important, BUT, it should be illegal to rate employees and decelerate employee pay with it. Especially considering the surveys aren’t calculated with a true average.

Our location is understaffed (but at “headcount” smh) so reps in my store tend to take on several different responsibilities just to keep the store running. The anxiety and stress produced with RIS is just another stress the frontline doesn’t need. We are already drowning.

Employees across the company are either just waiting for a severance or actively looking for other employment, which doesn’t help the situation.

Yet at Verizon ethnic employees get jobs they are not qualified for and are placed in these rolls as a token.
