Converse retail upper management have quit. Everyone is in temporary stretch roles. HQ people in support roles have been terminated and their duties dumped on others. There are open positions that have sat for months and none of the jobs have been posted.
I'd report it to Nike HQ, but there isn't a section on the speak up portal for "A division of the company is being run into the ground"
Converse is totally overload with people in creative With half of them at E and S band levels, working on a sneaker that has been around since the beginning of time.
None of their other products make any money.
They have teams that cover Color, Innovation, sustainability and trends that literally copy Nike Half have been on a vacation for the past year with Covid. I wouldn’t notice if 50% of the people and 50% of the product was let go that’s how little they bring value to the company. The Chuck will still be the Chuck, Regrind will still be Regrind, Move to Zero will still be move to zero.. What newness has Converse produced that actual sells and you see people wearing? I don’t see Kamala wearing anything else besides a Chuck. The Innovation and design team needs to get over themselves. If they want to lay-off people they should start with that area. Be prepared White Men, you guys are on the top of the list.
Scott is a smart guy. I don’t see how he doesn’t notice that.
Honestly the faster Nike gets rid of Converse the better for both sides. It's long been neglected and slowly dying on the vine for decades.
Converse is being prepared for a spin out IPO. Could not come quick enough.
