I have been preparing for the layoffs that will most likely follow and I am actively looking for a new job. The situation is awful and I don't see any reason for optimism. I can’t even get to the interview phase and I’m getting pretty desperate. I have some savings, but it certainly won’t be enough if I’ve been out of work for longer period. What are your experiences with job hunting?

I get it. I have been applying for jobs. I find tailoring my resume and cover letter has helped.
I had a friend who is a manager look over my resume to critique it and that helped too. She also told me its a month of search for every 10k so factor that in to. Sometimes things take time.

What’s the NGL division? What kind of roles?
I hear Pearson will be hiring for their new NGL division.
Don’t panic. Should you get laid off you will likely will qualify for unemployment, supplemented through September by the Covid Relief bill being signed this week. You also likely can get contract work—maybe in a few other industries to expand your resume— and wait the economic slowdown out before finding something more permanent. Unless you are old. Then you are toast.
Hopefully you are looking in other industries, publishing is dying.
