Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Can supervisors in charge of frontline force associates to take their first break after an hour and lunch in 3 hours? Has any other club experience this? Tell me...if this is legit, mandatory or written in the policy.

Telling associates "go take your break or lunch" early or late is another tactic to get rid of people. These cos people and team lead people are supposed to be running things! Do they need a class on how to do it correctly???

The 15 min breaks depends of the operational needs and yes, the can do it after an hour because the policy of rest breaks says. If you work between 3-6 hours you had a 15 min break. If you work more than 6, so then you had 2 breaks of 15 min and one lunch of 30 minutes.

It should be every 2 hours. You do not get locked out until close to 6 hours.

It’s true. When they would have us floor associates go up and run I would hear the cos tell some to go to lunch 2 hours into their 8 hour shift. And if they didn’t want to, she’d threaten to take away their 15 minute breaks

Yes. Just as your lunch can be out off to the 5 hour mark not 4 or up to the 6 hour mark so long as it doesn't go over. The 2, 4, 6 is a guideline. Break times happen around business needs. You can't always get it right at 2 or 4 if it's busy just like if it's dead you will go sooner to get it done before it gets busy. But as a regular trend, we tend to stick to the 2, 4, 6 as closely as possible at my club. Within 15 min either way pretty much every day all day. Granted sometimes things happen, call outs, unusually busy, short scheduling.. that may delay it or have it be up to 30 min early. But no, at our club we don't do 1, 3, 5.

You are technically to take your breaks every 2 hours and a lunch before you hit 6 hrs into your shift. Mgmt will be prompted a meal exception if you do not take lunch in a timely manner. At our club we try to be 30 mins prior to your 2 hr break time.
