Today I’ve decided that I want to leave Sam’s. I’ve faced the fact that I can't put up with the toxic atmosphere at work, the constant fear of layoffs, or the behavior of my manager that keeps blaming the employees for his own incompetence. In fact, an argument that I had with him a couple of days ago was the last straw for me.
I see there are quite a lot of job postings for retail workers in my area. On the other hand, I keep hearing that the job market has never been worse and that finding a new job is nothing short of a miracle.
Has anybody had any experience in searching for a new job in retail lately and, if so, just how hard is it to find a job these days?
Also, are the job postings real, or are the companies just posting that they are looking for workers while not actually hiring?

Stay out of retail if possible. There are many lower stress jobs to be had. With the government paying people 600 per week in unemployment whether you quit or lost Your job to the China virus there are a lot of job openings right now. The time is right to leave and get another job
Congratulations on your decision to leave this immoral corporation. This company is unique in that it considers a good employee to be nothing more than an expense rather than as the asset that they are. There are far better places to work out there. Go find one and never look back.
Good luck!!
Just remember that retail is retail. Stores have common problems in hard and soft line merchandise, staffing, expense, credit and so on. Home Depot does treat there associates very well compared to most retail business. But you will work hard for the money, and they do post jobs that are not open to create applicant flow.
I just recently left Sam’s and I didn’t have a hard time finding another job. I didn’t want to work retail anymore but I could have easily went to another retailer. I was done after 20+ years and will never do retail again! I’m so much happier now that I finally decided to leave. I had always heard from all my friends who left before me that they were so happy that they had made the move.
I now understand what that means. My new schedule is actually family oriented and I have so much more time with them. As a Manager I had a horrible schedule and they could and would work us 10 days straight! You should move on I know how scary that is but it’s so worth it!
You will be better off trust me! No regrets for me!
