Is my job perfect? No. But it's better than at the majority of other O&G companies. The main point is that we don't have nearly as many layoffs as they do (go check out some other companies on this webpage - it's a mess all over the place.) Amid a pandemic, that is worth a lot in my book.

Former amoco employ, who left after BP came to town. Enough said…
Might be the most ignorant statement on this board.
bp lived like a lawyer when it could have lived like a student in the good times. It’s a miracle it has not asked publicly for a government bail out package. After years of failed green promises, greedy bp thinks it has green credibility now with green debt and green envy for others that tighten their belt for years. bp can use the money it “failed to pay” from those let go near retirement to make a sleeping pillows and a seat cushions for its fabulous VPs. Greed and green are synonyms in bp alter ego vision.
BP employees should not want to merge with another oil company. The result will be the firings of Bp employees from level E on up. It’ll be worse than your last reorganization How do I know this, BP did this to the Amoco employees.
Really, you think so, huh?

Take a hike.
Debt is our biggest problem. It is out of control. Our debt to equity has risen over 70%. More then double Chevron’s. The piper will get paid eventually. Good news is we might all get the merger package.
BP is an outlier among the majors. Our financial performance is significantly worse due to structural issues, e.g. we can not earn as much per barrel as our competitors because of our contracts, etc. The Russian investments don't help. This depresses our stock and market cap. For example, Chevron produced 3 mboepd in 2020 vs 3.5 mpoed for BP. Yet our market cap is $87B and theirs is close to $200B. Think about that for a minute.
Saudi Aramco is much better than BP in terms of benefits and pay. There is no comparison.
the whole industry has been hit very hard since 2015. People who have been affected, whichever company they work for, have seen their lives upended. Some will never recover.
this is an industry wide issue and there's no sign of a recovery yet...
