Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

They “ALWAYS” pick the biggest POS on the property to crown king.

Yet they are surprised by the results....

If you are well connected with Union Pacific then you have it made. Take for example the manager in North Little Rock who is a registered s-x offender and is listed on the State of Arkansas s-x offender registry. He was hired on as a mechanic and Union Pacific promoted him all the way up to manager. Of course it did help that he had family who worked there. This is the face of Union Pacific's management team.

Meanwhile, Union Pacific has laid off thousands of hard working, dedicated people, many of them who have honorably served in the military. They were not well connected or part of the good ol' boys club.

UP will no doubt have this posting removed again but it's not a big deal to repost.

Completely agree. We have a great manager that will be leaving to Colton soon. While we keep the lazy pos. That doesn’t care about anything. Knows nothing about the job. Works nights to be able to catch naps behind the intermodal building every night. C’mon Joe. Pull the trigger and get rid of this pos once and for all

Union Pacific for sure has the worst managers of all companies... we take the managers that McDonald’s don’t want

Hopefully, one day those folks will reap what they sewed while they were here on earth.

I heard that there was a location that was completely sold out over a good deal on a boat.

Ours is s—ed up to the right person and is reaping all of the rewards, for now. My hope is that when they $hit can the rest of us is that they replace all of us that make this place function with every one just like him. You know who you are, you POS!

UP hires managers with degrees from diploma mills and wonders why they sign their name with a crayon

I wouldn't say that "good management is hard to find" at UP. What I would say is that it is more often than not, "OVERLOOKED".

I can't count the time I've seen highly qualified employees spend years mastering their crafts, only to apply for a promotion and be "OVERLOOKED". Where I was employed, that GOB club runs deeper than the shareholders pockets. No matter how qualified you are for the position, if you don't have something to offer the person in charge of the hiring, you are going to be OVERLOOKED! You could be one of the worst in your craft, but if you have hunting land or a hookup to something that the director wants/enjoys, you got the job....BUD!
I can save UP a ton of money. All you have to do it quit interviewing people for jobs. 100% of the time when they post a job, they ALREADY HAVE SOMEONE PICKED OUT FOR THAT JOB! They just go through the "legalities" to "ensure" they don't get in trouble. I mean come on UP, it's OBVIOUS to everyone exect the glass palace. Never seen a place so confused about definitions. If you want to ensure "ETHICS", you can start by actually practicing them.
All you keyboard company men reading this, if you wanna know how to change the culture of that company, TAKE A LONG LOOK IN THE MIRROR!
For over 3 years now, this company has been based off of lies and rumors. Transparency is absolutely key in a company such as this. If you want to create a company in which the employees care, then try being honest and forthcoming first. If you don't, just keep doing what you have been. Sooner or later though, the same ones making these cuts, will be cut too.
My advice to anyone still there is to leave if you can. For those of you that have the whiskers to stay, be prepared to accept a LOT of changes in favor of the company. This isn't your grandfather's railroad.

I'm guessing he's talking about UP management, since it fits the description pretty well. Good management at the UP is real hard to find.
