Cannot believe this. I was there and was very impressed by the environment and the people running it. It’s terrible.
Who cares... they still everything anyway!
The research lab in California has been bleeding cash for many years and may be next. Most of the best employees were poached by Silicon Valley companies years ago and they simply cannot compete for any decent talent.

Wow, that's funny, in a sad kind of way.
I remember back around 2013, I saw an IBM recruiting post for PhD's and Post-Docs to join the IBM Watson Research Center.
It said something along the lines of "Join the IBM Watson Research Center! You will spend 1 - 2 years in the Watson Research Center learning how things are done, and then you will relocate to China to manage a research team there".
At the time, back in 2013 or so, I thought to myself "OK, that's it, IBM is done".
And now all those PhD's and Post-Docs are fubar-ed.
Wow...
