Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Anybody else feeling relieved?

Yes, being without a job right now s—s, but I'd lie if I said I didn't feel some relief after the first shock wore off. I've been wanting to leave for a long while but was too scared to actually do anything about it. This kind of forced my hand. It would have been better if I already had a job lined up, but with severance I think I'll be okay.

I left Verizon in Dec 2020 to Salesforce. I love it, the grass is greener on the other side. Verizon is a great company to build your experience and be confident you can translate those skills elsewhere. Just make sure you take advantage of tuition assistance and keep skilling up bc you never know what corporate will do. Fortunately, I was studying and preparing for almost a year before I left. Once I got fed up selling or try to sell Bluejeans and horrible One Talk, I had to bounce. Good luck everyone.

People who got packages this time are the lucky ones.

I’m waiting and hoping that it happens to me. I’m sure you will be fine since unemployment will probably pay close to what you were making and up to 1 year now. I mean if you can’t find a new job in a year then then I don’t know what to tell you.
