Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Job Openings

So there are numerous job openings on the job board due to the events that happened last week. If you did not see those coming hou must have been under a rock or drank way too much kool laid. I have been told that those job openings are for people who where given notice and not to waste my time or effort applying for them because they are "guaranteed" to certian people. Pretty sure I can recall leadership stating that there was no guarantee those impacted would be given any special consideration. Funny how hiring managers already now who they where going to hire.

Let me explain how layoffs works everyone is given a rating HP=High Performer meaning has skills sets that are beneficial to company in many different channels. LP= Low Performer one have one set of skill sets that can not translate to other parts of business. The LP was the people who were let go last week because they did not have the skill sets to be able meet what there role will now consist of going forward, but you have hiring manager who want to hire those employees even though they are not the best fit for the job going forward in turn why they are LP and got a notice make real sense to keep those people.

Also this new structure should have happened years ago some of the roles that were impacted come on you saw it coming.

GMs you have your marching orders its not that hard to firgure out you are training your replacements and will be replaced by them for a fractions of the price. Than they will devest store to indirect and keep a handful for express.

Hiring Manager please hire the person that best fits the needs of the business going forward its time for new blood and ideas because what we have been doing for the last couple of years has not been working hence what happen last week.

I’ve seen a position that has opened and closed for various reasons over the last year, it seems very intentional now. The position could have been filled, but it was not. Coincidentally, we now have a surplus of people qualified to walk in and do the job, that are desperate from being laid off. Employee centric my @$$. They allowed employees to work hard thinking they were working for a promotion, and it seems as if they never had any intention of giving it to them.

HR has to post openings whenever they create a position. It does not mean it is available.
