Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Do you think 2 weeks per year is fair?

I know some companies give 3 weeks or even a month per year, but others also offer a week or no severance at all in some cases. Sitting somewhere in the middle doesn't seem too bad.

Mind you, my store is still standing. If I'm affected I might end up feeling completely different on the subject when hit with reality. Who knows...

Fair has nothing to do with it. Stop trusting people you have never met to be benevolent. They certainly wouldn't sacrifice their job to save yours.

There is no law that requires an employer to pay ANY severance. And you are asking if it is fair? You have until spring before you melt. Goodbye...

Before I joined VZ, I worked 8 years with my previous company and through the ranks. When they eliminated my position, I was giving 2 weeks and had to sign a waiver. Benefits ended that day. It s—s and very disheartening to hear so many people loss their jobs today. Reminds me of 2015 when they got rid of the 4 areas and 19 regions. For those remaining in retail and indirect, please look to develop your skills outside of consumer and customer service soft skills. I know people that did the Indirect job for 20 years or their entire career. I know SS that did the same job for 9 years. End of the day, it is still a retail job. The indirect job got easier and easier and they became less needed. The signs has been there for 3plus years.
