Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

A breakdown of what is happening

Will something happen today? Who knows... But if you stand back and think the writing is on the wall..

Clearly Verizon is full of brainwashed employees that still think they are vauled. Just look back at the past fees years. Anyone with intelligence should see what is happening, has happened and they fact that Krista and co are professional propagandists.

Coping T-Mobile for years. Look at the T-Mobile retail modeling. Very few corporate stores.

Cutting man hours and getting people out of retail under the cover of covid.

Giving more abilities to resellers, like returns, in store pick up, etc

Express stores (in the long term the only remaining retail outlets)

Pushing customers to self service.

One team is full of buzz words and if you cut out the bull you can understand the long term goal.

What is the cost of running a retail store. #1 real estate cost, rent, power, security, insurance. #2 employee liability, Heath insurance, HR support, Insurance, unions. #3 sitting on millions of products. Just to name a few

So if you have the ability to have someone else run your stores think of what you don't have to worry about. This has been done in the airline industry. Smaller independent airlines operate the express flights, no union, cheaper employees etc.

Will this all happen in one day. No. But think over the past year what has happened. Tocuhless is nothing more then express store. It was in operations in express stores. Covid hit and allowed them to jump on a mass rollout .

The company made the call to restrict customers from shopping in a store, this was done under the cover of safety. But unpack it. Verizon is essential in every state and could have operated like walmart, home depot, costco etc. Some safety measures but not really turning people away. Verizon did the total opposite, turned people away, go do it yourself. A re- programing of customers, you don't need a store. Most other retailers made adjustments but wanted to make sure customers come back when covid is over.

So I know Verizon has done a great job making employees think they are important, but the actions taken took so much away from employees. I will say Krista and team did an amazing job at propaganda.

So please wake up, stand up, and stop drinking the corporate kool aid

IF. It is true that we are going to zero commission wouldn’t that mean a bump in hourly?

It all comes down to 1 thing. If you can't increase income, cut costs. The wireless industry is moving from a growth field which it was for lots of the folks in heres entire career into a steady state mature industry.

Verizon is more like your electric company than it is a growth/tech company

I got laid off during the rounds back in 2018. It was the same week I signed my very first mortage on my first home. Talk about an intense time. But let me tell you, taking the severance and working now for indirect is such a better lifestyle. You feel so much more appreciated and can actually do your job the way you should be doing it. Do I make as much as I did with all the same benefits? No, but I will tell you that I am so much happier in my life with so much less stress.

And yes, this post is spot on and makes all the sense. Of course it feels c-appy feeling like all the hard work and amazing things you did for a company was just pushed the waste side.

All I can say is if you are getting a package, take the money and run. The brainwashing is real and trust me I felt hopeless thinking I lost a career that I enjoyed. Indirect is where it is at if you like what you do.

Anyone that was affected liked I was, I wish all the best. It's a hard pill to swallow, but let's face it, our world is ever evolving and so are businesses. Whether we feel what they are doing is right or wrong is one thing. But, in reality, some of the changes do make sense whether we like it or not.

Just believe in yourself and your abilities because trust me, you will be 1000% valued in another job. We were trained in many things in that corporate world. Use them to make a better you and a better tomorrow for yourself and your family. God bless.
