Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Corporate Stores going indirect announcing Jan 21st effective Feb 1st

A lot of changes coming down the pipeline tomorrow...

Staff will be notified of store closures. Several options including a small separation package will be offered.

Many indirect locations are already ready to staff your store.

From what I'm told. It will not be all stores but will be stores in areas were VZ has multiple corporate in the same area. Head counts that are low have been part of the plan. The goal is consolidate employees, offer packages and offer part time. Others will be offered jobs at reseller. This would be different npay and benefit packages, as each reseller offers very different types of compensation

The big 6 will take over and at times close their old style stores in that area.

If you got a renovated next gen don't think your safe. VZ wants all agents to have stores that are modern and have standards. Just like tmo corp and resllers all look the same. Smaller stores are at the most risk.

Verizon resellers fleet has no standards. They want as part of one team store to look and operate the same.

This is happening. There is some over reactions posted here, but this will be wave one.

All very true. Many corp stores being taken over by indirect. Big 6 agents were asked to close unproductive stores if they want corp doors.

How is indirect preparing??? what you talking about?? when they alone struggle to retain employees, their comp. plans are horrible, average stores have 3-5 employees each, their turnover is 50% on average, and their customer service is horrible. (this is someone with ties to indirect) I could see some store closures and becoming indirect, but not all, and they dont have employees ready to go.

Old peer of mine went indirect with the comp change he said the only time they do this is when they are filling for Corp takeovers. Go to any job board all the indirects are hiring and training like mad with fully staffed teams. They are preparing for takeovers.

Wish it weren’t true!

I wouldn’t be surprised... especially with all of the SM’s, GM’s, and DM’s in acting positions for a year. Smaller packages given.

It’s really not that hard to believe. Most corporate stores where we are were closed more than they were open last year. It’s not good business to pay an employee full time to work half the year. A business can’t sustain like that.

Small separation package? The "separation" package is standard across the enterprise. 2 weeks per year. Look it up...
