HPE is a money laundering scheme for upper management. They pretend to be doing business and "growing"W while ensuring nobody competent is promoted to decision making levels. A high ranking person who knows, and intends to grow technology (outside of purchasing startups that immediately begin to die) and build excellent integration, sales and deployment teams would threaten their overall core competency - of partitioning and eating a dying corpse.
HPE's biggest campus is in India, India has no 401K, so management not so interest to 401K, they only concern cost.
I haven’t heard of any company not immediately vesting 401k matches in about 20 years. That’s pretty terrible. Especially for a company that was renowned for taking care of its employees decades ago. This company is not fit to bear the names of Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard.

HPE 401K matching vesting time is 3 years. It does NOT belong to the top 22% of companies where 401K matching vests immediately.
HPE is trying to keep employees in HPE for 3 years. Top 22% of companies allow their employees to vest it immediately, no waiting time. This shows that HPE does not belong to the Top 22%. It is definitely rotten.
The 401k vesting isn't that much different from the retirement and deferred profit sharing plans of the 1950s thru 2000. You have to be around a fair amount of time before you got it. Yes, there are difference in the way it works but a commitment of time was required.
Sadly, you can't get that commitment from HP so you have to go mercenary and not offer or depend on loyalty. Think only of yourself and family.
hpe lays off the way most people breathe.
401K vesting period is 3 years in HPE. One of my colleague who lost Job in the Covid layoffs after 2 and 1/2 years in hpe lost all 401k match made by HPE and gains made during those years. Top tech companies don’t do this. Only cheap and horrible companies do this. Employee earned that match, they should be able to keep it.
