Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Guidance

I am considering stepping down from management to SS in a retail store. Is their anyone who has done this and what does the base pay look like? Please no rude comments as I am trying to make the best decision for my family to be able to spend time with them.

I stepped down to SS about 6 years ago, and recently went back to management. To answer your first question, I took about a $4 pay cut. At the time it was a smart decision and a made far more than I did as a manager.

Times change. Things are way different now. In my opinion stay where you’re at. The title alone is worth something should you decide to go elsewhere.

Depends on what you are offered. Most likely you will be 32 hours but if not I believe the pay difference is about $3 per hour. Plus they are probably going to get rid of a lot of managers soon.

When I stepped-down years ago they cut my base by 18%. I've made it up already and more. Good luck to you.

Stepped down a couple of years ago and never looked back. I do my eight and hit the gate. I do just enough to keep the heat off me.

  • No more dealing customer escalations.
  • No more worrying about trying to motivate reps who don’t care.
  • No more worrying about store kpi’s, metrics, or sales.
  • no more dealing with backend stuff.
  • No more dealing with endless pointless manager calls where the same thing is discussed over and over and over again but nothing changes but raised goals.

If you can take the cut in base pay and don’t mind taking the ego hit of stepping down do it. Life is much easier as a rep with manager knowledge.

Just don't do it! It looks bad on the resume that you stepped down. Just keep looking and post for different positions at different companies! You will become disgruntled within a month or 2 just because of the pay difference. Now if the company asked you to do this you would keep your pay but since you're doing it the pay cut would be too great.

I would quit and leverage your experience else where. You won't be happy with the pay or the way you will be treated. Stepping down looks awful on a resume

Yeah your best bet would be to talk to hr, you’ll have to go 32 hours though so your commission will be like 700 a month max(depending what zone you live in)

I had a close friend do it. It depends how how long you have been with the company. his base was around 60k as management and now it dropped to around 47ish. Hr will run the numbers usually. Good luck
