Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Toxic ?

What's the culture like in C1 ? I heard its really toxic.
Leadership is really clueless and most of the time is spend in meetings and sniping at each others heels?

Is there any truth to these rumors?

CRapital nOne SUCKS! I worked in HR and it is just as toxic as it is in other parts of the company. Some managers are incompetent and only worry about themselves. There is BULLYING and FAVORITISM. Definitely a lot of GASLIGHTING. I felt worthless under my most recent “manager”. She is FAKE and did absolutely nothing to help. She placed her status on slack to not visible. She broke me down. People complained to her manager and NOTHING was done! One complaint was blown out of proportion and everything is subjective to what the “manager” says…without any data to back it up. I say “manage” because the are NOT People Leaders as they claim they are. HR sucks and working in HR you see all the Cr-p that CRAPITAL One puts their on their hardworking employees. HR will ALWAYS side on the side of the manager. If you work there, get out between 2-5 years. It’s just not worth the bull fe--s that you go through. I worked there for just under 20 years and was fired for the incompetence of a manager. Shane on me though for waiting so long. I was warned by others NOT to work for this “manager “. If they are reading this, here’s a BIG middle finger for you!

Depends on the team. You also get what you put in and there are a ton of millennials.

Capital One is a talent incubator. You’re either there for under 5 years or over 20. Rarely in the middle. Punch in and punch out. It’s not that hard a concept. Don’t look for more people.

There is more than toxic stuff happening here, not just bullying.

Note that this is a financial company with a lot of access to your personal financial information.
Strangely enough, whenever there is someone new who is not towing the management line, specially the managers who have been here for 10, 20 years - their identity is getting stolen and they are keeping busy taking care of that. I say, when there is smoke, there is fire.
I have recommended some private investigators to a couple of these folks.
The ducks who have been sitting inside the company and stealing and harassing people have their times numbered. They can't hide anymore.

Remember that bullies are the most insecure pieces of s*it.
They know they are irrelevant and want to cling on to their seats.
My advice is - don't serve them . Resign on the spot and publicly share what happened.
Rich will fire them immediately - and no one will hire them again.

I hear you brother.
Not only that, the ****mond mafia is very strong.
They don't want real change and want to surround themselves with sycophants.
It's 1% work and 99% politics and power grab by folks who haven't achieved much in their lives.

I see lawsuits against management soon, that's the only way to put them in their place.

Can confirm. The rating system is sh–. You’ll hear great feedback all year and then BAM, below the curve, enjoy unemployment!

I just left Capital One even though I had to partially repay a sign-on bonus. That place should come with a warning label. The performance management process is a horror show with cross-cals like a UFC match. And don’t believe all their hype about being a tech company. The place is filled with dumb–s wheel reinvention.

It was that way 8 years ago and sad that the climate continues.

Yes, it is as toxic as it can be. Bully managers who like to use you as their shield or scapegoat. Condescending a–holes.
The employees walk around like robots with their noses in their laptops. No one is friendly, helpful or engaging. They throw you in the fire and you better hope you come out alive and not smelling of smoke.
I was so excited to get into this company but it was hell. Human resources is a joke. They defend the bullying.
