Since Oracle HQ moved to Texas, does it means that Oracle doesn't have to pay any severance to its employees ?

Will they be forcing employees to move from Silicon Valley?
For now the policy is the opposite, you can live anywhere in the US and work remotely.

HP force-moved an office as a way of getting a lot of people to quit. You can keep your job if you move, and by the way, we're not paying moving expenses.
CTO moved to Lanai.
I've wondered if that's his "bug out" bunker. A lot closer than New Zealand and more isolated than a ranch on NZ's south island,
But there are other tax breaks gained by moving to Texas,
Have any been announced? What are you thinking of?

I doubt the CA Franchise Tax Board would fall for that.
O will have to pay Cal State Income Tax on income it earns in CA. That won't change. But there are other tax breaks gained by moving to Texas,
It is just a change in official address to get tax breaks.
If only it was that easy... I doubt the CA Franchise Tax Board would fall for that.
No executive is moving to r—ded Texas.
You know this as a fact, or is it just your opinion?
It is just a change in official address to get tax breaks. No executive is moving to r—ded Texas. Regarding taxes, moving HQ to texas doesn't change anything for folks working from wherever they are working from. And orange POTUS also did nothing for working class in terms of taxes, richest got better though. And at last the taxes I paid were distributed to losers (covid relief) and I didn't get a penny.
Fortunately Europe is somewhat more advanced than the United States on social policy, like vacations, maternity rights, and severance
Oracle doesn't "have to" pay severance to anyone in the U.S.
No company pays severance out of the goodness of their heart, it's to make you sign away your right to sue them.
I am watching to see how many older, experienced workers at Oracle In California will be affected. Take a look at the statements from the Texas Gov on Twitter , this move paves the way for a younger, cheaper workforce in Austin, plus some tax breaks. Texas does not have the same labor laws & employment protections California offers.
SC & LE should be right at home in the state that tried to challenge the US election & has plenty of DJT supporters!
There is no legal requirement under California law that employers provide severance pay to an employee upon termination of employment.

Severance is based upon where the employee works, not where HQ is located
Darn those pesky facts!
Also, AFAIK, not even California mandates severance pay. They do have their own version of the WARN act, but as we already know, WARN only kicks in with mass layoffs.
Severance is based upon where the employee works, not where HQ is located
Correct
