Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Wind out of my sails

I was RIFed a few days ago. I don’t quite know how to take it. I’ve been with the company so long that I truly don’t know anything else. I ask myself if I’m too old to start over, or am I financially able to retire. I just don’t know. This came as quite a shock. It happened so fast, within 15 minutes and that was the end of my career. I know I’m rambling and I apologize I just needed to vent.

If you have been with the company for that long, that is a lot of experience you can put on your resume for your next job. It is an asset and experience you can put on the table for the next company. Granted processes may be different in the next company - but you should be able to connect the dots given what you have learned. Systems are not that difficult to learn once you have worked on different ones. Just take a lot of notes on your next job and expect to 'train yourself' on personal time. If you do that - you will be okay. You just need to have confidence. Have a professional help you put together your resume, sample cover letter & update your LinkedIn.
