Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

How lucky are you if you stay?

As others have alluded to already, full-time hourly / non-management positions will pretty much all be going away — with perhaps just a few exceptions. And those that remain will be expected to work wherever they were needed at any given time, including on the sales floor or running a register and with OPEN AVAILABILITY. Unless you qualify for one of those very few position and / or accept a position as a supervisor or manager, you really need to think about finding another line of work.

Honestly, I am afraid of being laid off, but on the other hand, I would like to leave this company and this industry in general as soon as possible. Talking to colleagues, for those who stay and don’t get axed, the job will become absolutely unbearable and the workload greater than ever.

Agreed, however at some point customer service will hit a critical tipping point and customers will take their wallets elsewhere. We are already seeing it with respect to Appliance market share thanks in large part to the abysmal/inept 3rd party delivery service and rushed XDT rollout. Lowe's DOES NOT have a monopoly on the home improvement market and our customers are not naive. There are no cash registers in corporate and if they keep biting the hands that are feeding them eventually they won't get fed.

When will you people realize that the only thing that matters are executive bonuses. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. You're welcome, and accept capitalism American style for what it is. GREED!
