Wells Fargo just laid off thousands of employees across the nation today. Literally within the last 8 hours.
And they chose to do this right before Christmas.
Such a pathetic company.

I disagree that “ you guys can all find better, higher laying jobs are pretty much any bank. You’ll thank WF when you land that job”. First, we are in a pandemic so it is an employer’s market. Second, the salaries that are bandied about here may sound low to San Francisco residents but I assure you that they are triple the pay scale of most equivalent jobs in the heartland.
The people getting laid off are still getting paid. They aren’t losing pay during the holiday and they don’t have to go to work so those that have kids get extra time with their families
You can alert the media all day, it won't do anything.
If customers didn't leave the bank after the last four years, they aren't going to leave now.
And Wall Street thinks layoffs are s-xy.
The media have been reporting Wells’s plan to enact mass layoffs all along.
Analysts have been predicting it and calling for it.

If not for the pandemic this would’ve happened months ago. When the other big banks said they wouldn’t do layoffs this year Wells was in a tough spot. They couldn’t go ahead and lay off thousands when their competitors were promising to keep people employed. So they waited six months and then they quietly started the cuts. The pandemic bought some people a year.
Let this be a loud message from the universe: be glad you are no longer subjected to the dumpster fire any longer! I’d love a damn package so I could escape and get paid to find something else. Those laid off today are all CSSR, ABM or PB1-you guys can all find better, higher laying jobs are pretty much any bank. You’ll thank WF when you land that job.
EVERYONE should FLOOD their media with this! If all of the employees getting laid off put pressure by notifying the media, then they would absolutely get exposed!!!
They let go the front line workers the ones who were reporting to work during this whole pandemic. Pathetic absolutely pathetic. They could have let go of the stupid DMs who advised branch managers that bankers who don’t perform with investments and lending will be let go next round. Good old Wells Fargo back at it again
Of course, they're going to do this with the holidays and pandemic to "hide" it from the media as much as they're able to.
Anyone affected should absolutely be contacting their media outlets to inform them of it. Make this as public as it can possibly be.
Isn't this a company that says one of their most important values is "people as an advantage"? Yet you lay so many off. What people are they talking about then? Certainly not the customers who can't get help from non existent employees. And definitely not the employees themselves who are losing their jobs right before one of the most expensive holidays of the year. Maybe the slogan was entered wrong when they released it. Maybe it's supposed to be "taking advantage of people" with the obvious people benefiting being the ones at the top making 6 figures a year.
This is a new low. Truly heartless. Thoughts and prayers to all of those hit by this cruel decision from a business that claims to care.
Someone who was let go today should notify Austin Weinstein, the banking reporter at the Charlotte Observer. He has expressed an interest in hearing when layoffs happen in bulk. Ask him to protect your name and privacy. He has asked to be kept informed. He will contact the company first to verify. I’m sure Wells Fargo is wanting to keep it under wraps due to the timing of the holidays and the pandemic etc . Make it public however you can.

they didn't do it this past Tuesday because it was first of the month and the branches were packed with people needing to cash their unemployment checks.
How can anyone be shocked at getting a notice. Does it really matter that it's "this close" to the holidays? WF only owes you for the hours you worked and nothing more. If you haven't figured that out by now there is ZERO help for you. Grow up.
So it's happening every day, not only the third Tuesday of the month. Devastating for so many of us.’

I'm one of them. I believe what you say about its being in the thousands nationwide since one quarter of my branch's employees was left go. A neighboring branch lost several team members as well. Great idea to do this amid the pandemic news cycle, shelter-in-place orders, and the holiday craze. No one will notice that WF is letting people go during this time of the year. Many among us have families, children... Happy holidays to us, I guess!
