Looks like the vast majority of those let go were white male. Seems to be a common thing with the D&I days in companies. I have yet to hear of a woman getting let go, I am sure they are out there. Only one person I know let go was non-white, but word is he was pretty worthless at his job. BL needs to get those numbers evened out I guess.

Exact opposite of what's going on at exxon. So many females are being let go over there.
And the problem with this is...?
You’re spot on. I can confirm this was the case at another major asset.
Yes bp management lends their moral to get rid off people that have worked many...many years for bp and in 18 months short of retirement or even 1 yr they get chopped. Hard to believe that bp management sleeps well at night. They must be getting paid well to leave their conscience blank. No wonder bp changes strategy as fast as changing a pair of socks. After all, when the socks don’t match, they can be tossed; same way bp treats people, “our best assets”.
Many people were let go who would have qualified for retiree medical in under 18 months.
Horrible.
I'm most interested to see the ratio of EOI vs. non-EOI layoff leavers. I know of many female EOI, but fewer non-EOI layoff.
Not really - male yes, white - not necessarily. You can argue that the majority of employees are males so the majority of those laid off would be males - but that would probably be mostly correct in STEM disciplines. But honestly- have not seen evidence that the majority laid off is "white" male. If you want something to be outraged about, that should be the logic of the layoffs and the selection - when you look at the group at the upper levels and how they keep jumping between lucrative jobs every re-org, when you have worked with some of them directly and know they are useless, and you look at some of those laid off that were truly knowledgeable and hard working people carrying this company on their shoulders......then you have to suspect that the whole system is not really a "meritocracy" as good ol bernie and his sycophants like to say
Or in a few month try to find out discrimination charges against bp. Likely a minority been mistreated by a manager with less capabilities. In bp AKA First or Senior Level Leader.
I know 17 people that were made redundant during the last reorganization in BP, of those 3 are women and 1 from minority background. 13 are white male. Just some numbers....
Dummest analysis from my white male counterpart. Assumptions - narrow thinking.
It is highly likely that more white males will be made redundant as a result of this restructure as there are still significantly more white males in BP than any other single category.
Whether BP has a policy of positive discrimination is not really in question, they have been quite open about this in external publications, but using a restructure to intentionally change the diversity balance of the company would be illegal, so I cannot imagine that has happened.
I don't get names of those who have been let go, but there is another way t o find out. If you go to Linkedin and look for colleagues who had at one point been with BP, you'll get a few out there who have just updated their profile. One such person was business strategy manager. She was Amoco heritage, but not 50. So, she's in for some hurt.
the comment was so silly. I can tell you so far I've known several women, color, and minority people were let go. There is ZERO evidence that vast majority let go is white male,
OP here: I see your comments. Your assumptions are equally id–tic as mine. Go see who lands a job first, male or female. Guarantee it is the female and she can have less credentials than the male. I have seen it all over BP. Do not assume I work there or ever worked there. I can guarantee you that companies are making decisions to be "diverse".
The OP's observation is completely arrogant and ignorant. I guarantee you that you don't have visibility into all 7000 people let go AND not only am I female but I know personally of several other females and people of color that were let go. Don't let yourself go and stew over falsehoods that you were let go because you're a white male and the new "minority" but rather think about opening your social circle.
I know of several females who were pushed out. They were the people who went against the BP green narrative which has changed in a year. From continued growth of oil and gas demand to depletion by 40% in 10 years.
Females are left to deal with obnoxious manager, rated low, and fired one at a time. Often do not get the benefit of the same severance package offered to white males during bulk layoffs.
