Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Hewlett Packard Enterprise moving global headquarters to Houston area

Didn't HPE open a new headquarters in San Jose, CA a few years ago? More lay-offs are certain to follow!

My anecdotal impression is that medium to large tech companies, especially those who may have a Silicon Valley presence but a modest one, don't seriously try to compete on comp with the SV companies who pay the most whether salary, RSUs, or other benefits. Of course they may be attractive for other reasons but, by and large, they're not going to get in a bidding war with Facebook.

I agree. Who wouldn't want to move to a swamp. It's like heaven.

This has been suspected for a long time. It's really not a surprise. Enjoy Houston (eastern Louisiana weather.) Bay area mediterranean weather was just the pits.

And remember, the higher ups won't live there.

"Moving" headquarters? More like "evacuate the CA premises" and move-in to what was supposed to be the "Houston branch" after moving so many employees to become "edge workers". It makes economical sense, but don't go on making headlines like it was an original idea. Houston happens to be it out of circumstance. Agree?

Did we miss the number of Manufacturing Jobs (Compaq Headquarters 14K) were going to be creaed in the Houston Area as a result of headquarters moving.

Why not just flatten the management layers at HPE Headquareters.

Other than gaining some initial press from the Gov, HarriS County Judge, Houston Mayor
this is all smoke and mirrors.

The footprint for any Tech Hub in the Houston Area has been awarded to the 1st Place Company Amazon Tech Hub located in West Houston.

Amazing this relocation effort the C Suite should have been used to innovate a go forward strategy

With HPE's go-forward model it doesn't make sense to keep employees. Full STOP

With HPE's 'Channel Partner only' go-forward model, it doesn't make any business sense to keep more than bare minimal employees in California.
