Mandatory Covid Vaccine for Verizon Employees

Verizon has tasked it's lawyers to look at legal options to require employees to get Covid vaccination. The have a roll out plan already published. Front line wireline and retail employees first.

I don't think any company can require it while your in the position. Sure they can hire based on it or preference to it. I think if anything Verizon will incentivize it at some point. I do hope and think they will hold off though because if you have not seen the news there was a bad batch and they are pulling a lot of the doses. I for one would never consider my self against vaccine or science however the whole thing does make my spidey sense go off.

I think people miss the overall point. Sure most want to get the vaccine. However if an employer can now force medical decisions, this would be the beginning of a slippery slope.

I'm sure many big companies are looking into this. Verizon and all the big Fortune 500 companies have lobbyists that are probably going to get their buddies in the Obama administration.. I'm sorry Biden administration to provide protections against lawsuits from the vaccine.

But if employee suffers from side effects as a result of the vaccine, they can probably sue the company depending on the severity of the side effects. Even a little bit of pain and suffering can result in million dollar payouts. Also, if that employee suffers long-term ailments even after leaving the job, that employee can still come back and sue. It really would not be worth it. Lawyers would always be fine with the vaccine requirement because they get paid big $$$ when the lawsuits come pouring in.
