Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I feel sorry for Acacia employees

I know there aren't that many of them, but boy are they in for a rude awakening. I don't know what their company was like before this, but I looked around on the usual suspects (Glassdoor, LinkedIn...) and it seems decent enough. Can you imagine the shock they're going to feel once they get to know and feel the full brunt of twisted Cisco culture and toxic work environment? It's not going to be pretty...

All Acacia RSU become vested by the acquisition date. If they have enough shares, they will be happy. Similar to a friend at Red Hat. He was let go of IBM, joined RH, accumulated a ton of shares through sign on, purchase, and RSUs. Once IBM announced their purchase, he went into do nothing mode. He was not going to be an IBM employee again. Basically retired from the huge spike in price. Unfortunately he passed from cancer but enjoyed the time he did have.

I don't feel sorry for them. If they really are as smart, dedicated employees as everyone says, they will see the writing on the wall and leave once their Acacia (converted to Cisco) RSU's vest. All major megacorps play the layoff game, Cisco just plays it uglier than most.

They will leave and make a new company. Cisco will be left with patents and code. As usual, the Acacia projects will be sent to India aka the graveyard as a final resting place.
RIP Acacia!!

If they had stock, they will be fine. Plan to be in the layoff that will happen in two years and move on.
