Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Telesales unionizing?

Just got, what I feel, is pretty official paperwork about a meeting? Anyone else? I already came from a center that shut down, with all the rumors going around I don't care that our dept just went on a hiring spree that never stopped them before. I think I'm going to entertain the idea, espc since it's remote. Anyone else thinking about going to hear it out?

Unions have bankrupted state governments. Nuff said.

Nice to see a highly paid union organizer/"propogandizer" posting here.

Unions are important because they help set the standards for education, skill levels, wages, working conditions, and quality of life for workers. Union-negotiated wages and benefits are generally superior to what non-union workers receive. Most union contracts provide far more protections than state and federal laws.

If you like hearing a bunch of BS lies and empty promises, then the meeting will be right up your alley. I would rather spend a day at a high pressure timeshare sales pitch. They might have more credibility than a union organizer. And I could get a free day at a "resort". All the union organizer really has to offer is union dues.

I was never a believer in joining a union in retail Verizon. The last several years talk has bubbled up but for all the wrong reasons. There are so many reasons to want to form a union now that it’s inevitable. The WFH jobs will have an easier time deciding to join because no in your face animosity or fear of retaliation anymore. The retail store environment has changed so much in the last year you would think forming a union would be a slam dunk. If retail wants to continue union free I suggest they start offering VSP’s ASAP. There are a ton of tenured reps throughout the system. Those are the most likely to support a union.
