Some colleagues tell me in confidence that they have never put less effort into their work and that they only give the bare minimum. I listen to this with disbelief because my case is completely different. Without any exaggeration, lately I’ve been overwhelmed every day with enough work for at least two, if not three people and I’m on the verge of burnout. Maybe it’s just me and maybe I need a little more assertiveness, but I really don’t know how it’s even possible for some to get away with working minimally.

We have massively increased work loads, but are barely able to keep up with our normal tasks because of layoffs in our dept. In Q3 of 2020 I was like you, working lots of overtime trying to keep up with 3 peoples jobs and finally decided to only focus on what needs to be done now and everything else not to worry about. If you keep putting up with more work with no extra pay, they will use you and expect it. Once management notice we werent keeping up all of a sudden they found help or other people to do stuff. If you let them use you, they will. If you start doing the barr min, they will find help. We can tell its only a matter of time before our jobs are gone, so why burn out for a company that is just getting rid of us anyway?
Mind over matter......you won’t mind things falling behind if you know it does not matter......and it doesn’t.
The top brass is planning your job elimination.
I wonder if Uncle Kelly has gone in the forgiveness circuit again. Guessing he and the bank are sorry for the DC protests. Maybe not Dante....anyway, I miss that pandering old kook.
Glad I left. You should too. Or better yet steal a paycheck from them and provide bare minimum effort each week.
Salud!
