Death by training is a real risk in 2021.
All my mgmt hierarchy cares about and the only time we hear from them is about doing all our training way before it’s actual deadline. They are petrified of ending up on a naughty list
70% of the training has no relevance to my role in any way, shape or form
Is there a master plan to all of it that I am missing?
Every other financial institution I've worked at has similar training courses.
Managers’ bonuses are tied to team’s 100% completion of training by required dates. This is why they get squirrelly 2-3 wks prior to deadline.
Thats why we use Brave and Shields Up

Some outside consultant is really doing a number on our present and past CEOs:
“Charlie, since you are soooo smart and you now run such a prestigious organization, I have a very special deal for you. Oh BTW, have you been working out? I can tell. I know you are a very important and busy man, so I’m going to offer you my best deal right up front. My boss is going to be mad at me, but I would be willing to sell this ($1million) suite of classes to you for the low low price of $25 million. Pssst, the diverse actors come with the offer. We’ve got a deal? You are quite the handsome and powerful negotiator.”
I found much of the training, especially the customer first training to be geared toward those without customer service/sales experience and many of the required courses were redundant. Granted, I was an older worker with 25+ years in customer service/sales/management and sales training experience so the skills like bonding and rapport, listening for queues and asking relevant questions is 2nd nature to me. That said, for someone starting out and younger, it would be beneficial.

You're getting paid to take the training - why complain?
You have to understand that these are designed for millennial types with no common sense about things like don’t click on links, don’t give out confidential info, wear a mask, etc.
The ultimate insult was when we had to take the mandated “Covid precautions” training 7 months into the pandemic that amounted to wear a mask, wash hands and social distance. Genius!!!

As long as you work in finance, you'll be saturated with compliance tests.
I worked at a bank and if you failed a test after the third attempt, you had to chat with h/r. What joy.
Hey now, stop throwing political hand grenades into this — training is the price you pay for getting flagged by Compliance. Sure it's painful and tedious, but it checks a box. Like 90% of compliance work there's no use trying to argue with the underlying logic or lack thereof.
Not sure what how many other groups had to take but I work in IT and had to take 28 required classes last year. When I first started at WF it was 3 classes.
It was much better when it was all due by a couple dates instead of death by a thousand pokes.
It’s always good to know what they look for in Money Laundering schemes so you know how to get around those checks.

It's a compliance thing, all bank employees have to do them. You'll be ok, they come with the territory!
