As I met the eligibility to do so, I chose to retire and get away from all of the dysfunction. To those of you holding out for 2/5 for bonus, brace yourself; the demands to get 'priority' work done will be unlike anything you have ever experienced. While the new regime lacks a certain practicality to the shoot from the hip changes they are making, they are not complete id–ts. They know (and are counting on) a large exodus in the next 2-6 weeks after that date and will be whipping the mule (you) to get the last ounce of work out of you before then. They have you where they want you; holding out hope they didn't hose you on your bonus (they have) because if you had another option to leave before 2/5 you would have.

Okay Conor, tell us something that we didn’t already know.
I'm ready to go today. If they offer me a package, I'd take it and be gone.
But until then I've got a cush job and no real responsibilities. All I do anymore is just bump my mouse every few minutes so I show up as Active, attend worthless meetings, and collect a paycheck. Working or not working, my life right now wouldn't change one bit.
They can turn the cash spigot off anytime they want, but I'm not going to turn it off for them. At this point I consider every paycheck to simply be a bonus.
I'll be among that mass exodus group. I'll still get my work done and done well, but I won't be taking on any new major projects or workload. My priorities are in much better order now - work hovers around #4. The stress and uncertainty that has been lingering for months isn't work sacrificing your own health and well-being.
Good luck to all!
I am ok with extra work as long as they pay. I consider this a business transaction, I am trading my time for money and leaving it at this. Nothing is free in this world.
This is same way the execs here operate.
Good for you. As someone in a similar position I plan to play it by ear until March or April before I pull the pin. My decision based on maintaining income flow until eligible for full SS. I could stop now but rather pick up a few more months salary. Not at all concerned about extra work don't see that as an issue.
Show Wells Fargo the door. There are better companies with stellar core values who appreciate their employees and foster a thriving culture. Wells Fargo has nothing special to offer the world and they have nothing special to offer you. Other financial institutions are doing it better without taking advantage of their employees and their customers. Set yourselves free and go live a happy life.
Don’t let Charlie dictate whether you stay or go. Take charge of you own future and leave Wells Fargo in the dust. We can all do so much better. So can our clients and our shareholders.
@bhe+18Gnis1D OP here; I had other considerations in play for the 12/31 date. Primarily health insurance. Tomorrow I go on my spouse's plan. Plus the last three weeks have been essentially garden leave. No one is (was) around.
You don't need to wait to retire on 12/31 to get a bonus the following year. Just FYI for others considering retirement.
Per Previous Post,
Watch out for the other parts that make your work not right; watch your co-workers, its not a fair game they play.
If your work is the only thing being rated that is easy, anyone can do that.
Congrats on your retirement! Nicely done! As far as work load and being over a barrel, I suppose they can try, but I'm self motivated and a hard worker, so outside influences like that don't mean a whole lot. If my best isn't enough to earn bonuses or be retained, it is what it is, I'll go elsewhere and do the same.
Also, anyone comparing work to a "war zone" has never been in a war zone.
Congratulations! Best of luck. I also accepted another position, start in a few weeks. For job searchers out there... don't give up, there are jobs out there. It may just take a bit of persistence...
Great job and thank you too! I just accepted a new position, bonus here wouldnt even matter. Pay s—s too! I am leaving too greener pastures, this place is like a war zone
And good for you.
