Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Fired after COVID?

I don’t know if I’m more afraid of catching the virus or losing my job after I recover from it and come back to work. Were there any cases in your stores where someone was fired without any rational reason after catching an illness? I have to admit that wouldn’t surprise me at all, because this company treats all of us as very interchangeable, replaceable cogs in their big machine.

Why not just block calls/texts from your Manager?

Also..how many times has your Mgr called/texted you? Why do they keep contacting you?Why would corporate say it's not their problem when it's one of their Mgrs? Did you talk to your (former) DM? I think there is a lot more to this story

First of all no government agency would/should say they have a "huge" file on a company. Nor are they going to say they have more from BBBY then any other company. Come on now. I hope you are saving the texts/voice mails and call records of the calls from your manager. If someone is threatening you then YES the police should be able to tell you what to do.Ie: get a restraining order.if they don't then ask for a higher up. I really feel there is something " off" with your story..it does not add up. Sorry not sorry but it doesn't.

I'm the person who posted about the 5 covid cases at the BB&B store that I worked at.
I called BB&B corporate HR all they asked was what's your name, what store do you work for and whose the manager? Once I gave them all that info all they said was thanks and hung up. Gave me no other information or told me what to do. Within the same week I get a call at home from my manager asking why did you call HR? And went on to say that I went behind his back to screw him over. By then I had quit and told him I talked to you about it you ignored me and you said s— it up it's our busy season.
I also called the U.S Department of labor, OSHA. I explained the situation, they told me that they have a back log they are going through that they won't be able to address this for a couple of months. They also said they have a huge file on BB&B from retail employees calling, emailing them about covid issues - workers getting it from other coworkers because management didn't quarantine them. Or workers who had covid symptoms but continued to work infecting other coworkers. He saidduri g these last couple of months that they've had the most complaints coming from BB&B workers.

If your an expert, what else can I do? I am still getting calls/texts from my old manager threatening me I've been emailing screenshots to BB&B HR. All they say is you don't work for us, not our problem. So I have brought this to my local police but they are limited on what they can do. I'm talking to local lawyer to make this all stop. He's telling me that there is a case that is already building against BB&B creating unsafe work environment. They have over150 workers invilved and that I can be added to it.

Call your Dr to get his/her advice about quarantine, etc. Also ask your Dr where you should report this...and do so

2 Confirmed cases in my store and the manager says she hasn’t see either of them “In a week or two”, so I should be fine. That’s REALLY calming! I live with a susceptible roommate to illness.

This place doesn’t care about Covid...but yet it seems most retail places don’t 😟😖

Okay..so why not get a Doctor's note? As we all know you can copy and paste in an email.so none of these 5 people took it upon themselves to quarantine? None of them thought of their fellow workers? No one called the health department? There's something wrong here..somehow I feel like it's a fishy post.

We've had 5 cases of coworkers getting Covid. Guess what they were not forced to quarantine and continued to work while positive with covid. Three of them just kept working with mask and added gloves not surgical gloves , just regular gloves you wear in the winter. When two of them came in with emails with their test results, proving they had it, the manager told them you need a doctors note saying you couldn't work. Managers reason this is our busy season s— it up. Two other coworkers plus myself quit that week.
