Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Food for thought: Maybe the people who criticize the current management team the most are the people who care about Wells Fargo the most.

After reading someone’s characterization of David Kowach on another post, it made me realize how much I miss working in a team environment. We worked hard and we worked together and we put in long hours and loved every minute of it. We trusted our managers and they appreciated our honesty. Two opinions were better than one, and playing the Devils Advocate was considered to be thinking a project through, rather than “being negative.” I have great respect for the employees and managers I’ve worked with a long the way. They all deserve better than what we are experiencing right now.

Not all parts of Wells Fargo were corrupt. It was the Senior Executive team at the bank, and the leaders in the Community Banking Division. But the rest of us have had, for the most part, good experiences at Wells Fargo before 2016.

So yes - I do resent the new management team coming in and not respecting my team mates. I don’t enjoy watching my fellow team mates being forced to pay the price for the mistakes of others. And I don’t like that our current management team is, perhaps unintentionally, destroying employee morale across the board when the problems were not across the board. I don’t love Wells Fargo, but I do love the employees of Wells Fargo. There are plenty of leaders at other major corporations who have executed layoffs while still pulling the team together and giving employees hope for a brighter future.

I thinking wanting the best for Wells Fargo employees is actually wanting the best for Wells Fargo.

We don’t want Charlie out. We want him to solve this toxic bank.

I’m sure Chainsaw will be honored to be called an id–t savant by a troll 😂. You probably made his day. It’s always fun when the weirdos get involved.

No one wants Charlie. Not the shareholders, not the employees, not Buffett, not even the Board who hired him. He was the last pick. Charlie took the job to benefit Charlie. If you think he is here to do what is right for Wells Fargo long-term, you need to open your eyes.

Why do you think he doesn’t bother to engage, respect and rally the employees? Because he knows we will all be gone in a couple years.

'We want Charlie out' - sorry to break the bad news but unless you're a shareholder with millions of shares, nobody cares what you want. If you're not happy as they say ...

Open your eyes and stop being such a sheep . We want Charlie out. He’s here to break up the bank and sell it off in pieces. If you have any brain cells left after drinking the Kool-aid, you’ll push for a decent CEO with character and integrity.

They don't care. They just gripe and hope the bank shuts down and meanwhile, they're all still working here paying their mortgages and chil's tuition under Wells.

Former Senior management’s responsibility for sales practices scandal; for not having proper risk management and controls in place; for withholding details about the fakes accounts; for misleading investors by inflating performance metrics; for misleading the BOD, the DOJ and the OCC; for firing Whistleblowers; for improper incentives (still in existence today, BTW) improper selling of insurance products customers did not need.

There were bad apples at the top, doing the wrong things and incentivizing the wrong behaviors, but the majority of Wells Fargo employees are decent hard-working honest people trying to please their bosses and survive all the the corporate nonsense.

if you think that the problem with WF happened "somewhere else" in the company, or only in the community bank - you are mistaken.

Sure, the stuff with the sales practices in the branch bank has been very visible and was a crippling blow. But there are consent orders and MRAs all over the bank. Most of which have been bungled over and over again by prior management.

I agree with one thing you touched on OP, upper management has certainly used a very broad brush when talking about past mistakes. There are tens of thousands of great employees that have nothing to do with the retail issues that have plagued the company, and yet we are dragged through the same mud time and time again. Even in compliance training there's talk of how we need to change how we do things, and the need to start doing things ethically. Newsflash: a LOT of have been, for decades, and that great works seems to be largely ignored and unappreciated. Funny thing is, if you tell someone they are 'bad' long enough, they'll start to believe it and respond accordingly (low morale and worse).

I am glad Wells Fargo is doing layoffs. If the people speaking here represent some of the people who work here, I don't want to see them.
