Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

CEO email

Gotta love the CEO email this morning; As a company we will be working this holiday season to say thank you and shine a light on those at the heart of our communities. Then you read all the stuff in the email and it basically says we are donating all this money to everyone but nothing to employees.. Way to say thanks to your employees Charlie.

I used to give the “recommended giving level” until I had some cost cutting in the pay. It drove me to investigate where the United Way money went... surprise... many United Way dollars recipients actually do great harm to the communities which they supposedly serve.

Just follow the money.

I realize not all LOBs are the same, but not too long ago, WFA employees were under unrelenting pressure annually to donate to the United Way. It didn’t matter how much money you had already given to other charities through Wells, because we were also pressured at other times of the year to give to Susan G Komen, Arts & Education Council, various food drives, back-to school supplies, as well as supporting the 100 neediest families during Christmas. (All good charities.) Additionally, it didn’t matter if you gave generously individually, donated through your church, or if your family was having a tough year. There were a even a couple years where “Community Support” was on our Performance Reviews.

My point is this: Wells Fargo’s hard-sell “recommended giving level” to United Way was 1% of your gross income. And they expected you to give more, at a “Leadership level”, if you made over $150,000 per year. And it certainly was not a “matching” donation dependent on only if others donate

Rough numbers, but for the just the 3 quarters reported thus far in 2020, WFC reported revenue of $61billion, so what is 1%? I come up with $610 million.

Excellent point. Dolly donated $1million to COVID vaccine development all on her own. Of course she’s not in trouble with the Feds. And she has a soul.

I think it is hilarious/pathetic that WF can only spare to match/donate $ 1 million. Like wait that’s it? So cheap. And they are doing it as a social media campaign... reputation clean up tactic from the new head of corporate communications/marketing. Oh and let’s put Charlie’s face all over it so we can all pretend that he cares.

And before someone from that team comes on here to say there are other pieces to it - yeah I know I read the fine print. WF wants you to shop local but bank with a big bank. Okay - lol.

Can’t wait to see the actual counts of how many people actually share. Can they really get 200k people (employees and customers to share?). Lol jk they won’t actually share that information. And if they do it’ll be a lie.

They get to write off those donations unlike anything they would give us. Nice to know their priorities are straight.

Yeah, we used to also get let “out” a couple hours early (except branch employees) before major holidays like Christmas, thanksgiving 4th of July and that has all disappeared under CS. So much for goodwill.. all he cares about is PR.
