Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

the happiest day was the day it was suggested I move along. After 9 & 1/2 years. Finally a favor. the second happiest day was when I was hired. Our peers were the finest folks. VZW recruited wonderful people. then started the mantra on the great pay, promotional prospects, our health care, 401k matching- oh and the education benefits. most of my supervisors were really great. some, not so much, but they were the ones most focused on metrics. as in 'I don't know or care what you have to do to--------just get it done' -----yes, I had two said that. when I started, I could remedy. We were shorted a $10 desert to be shared. I do not call the restaurant any longer. I do the survey. The chat bot offered me a certificate for twice the value of thing we did. again. Except this was the 2nd time- I had resolved not to visit them again for (who the he-l cares? ) failing fullfulment a 2nd time- that I had advised them in the survey and had taken the chat bots $15 thingy and had applied it to most recent order. All of this would have been reviewed b the VZW CSRs personally- until 2012 or so. and yes, it was what we did. IT worked well. Five years later- I can finally use my own phone and other phones- took me a year to use one again. The pay is great, the benefits the best, we're still getting bonuses- and don't forget the education benefits! They are until they aren't. The company just evolved- to be a tad European. I can't say for better or worse- but the new public front is very misleading to the inside- down where we use the shovels everyday. OH yeah. My therapist had several clients start on the VZW EAP- her exact words where she wished she could. I now know of another there- and a third in another state.

Another union sales promo again by paid to post union workers. This person does not even work at Verizon I am 100% sure of it! And they claim the took the package.. BS, total BS! Tell tails of union nitwits!

If true, that's great. But if you no longer work for Verizon why are you on their layoff board? I for one would not be on here if I was in your shoes.

What is the deal with calling someone a troll when their experience is different than yours in a company of 135,000 people?
There are a growing number of toxic departments due to current leadership in this company and OP is not a troll for pointing that out.

I spent 26 years with the company leaving with the VSP in June of 19. The culture can be toxic or non toxic depending on who your manager is and how well they handle the Verizon BS. I had both good and not so good managers over the years and that was the difference. That said, over the past few years it seems that there were a lot of " yes boss" managers promoted and this is what is contributing to the toxic culture many feel exists today. s for myself, I now work for a company at does work inside another company as a contractor and I have not seen the level of toxicity in either company that I left behind in 2019. People seem to be more focused on their work and the customer than serving the level above them.
