Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

How to produce magic with no tools?

THE POOR “GRUNTS” IN THE STORE ARE LEFT TO PRODUCE MAGIC WITH NO TOOLS, NO GREAT MERCHANDISE. CREATIVITY AND FREE THINKING MUST BE NURTURED; THE WEBSITE MUST BE A COLLABORATION OF THE BEST MERCHANTS, BEST TECHIES WITH A POP OF FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT (IE A TIKTOK EMBED, CELEB LOOKALIKE, NAMING CONTESTS, YOUTUBE CLIPS, HOMETOWN HERO-OF-THE-DOTY STUCH, COUCH , ETC.) -EVERYBODY LEFT HERE WOULD NEVER STICK THEIR NECK OUT- AND WHO COULD BLAME THEM.
CHANGE NEEDS TO COME NOW!
__________

At first I was horrified by all the caps lock, but this post is so great that I copied it into a new thread. I totally identify with it being hard to work without the right tools.

To the customer that posted here,,,, there are great ways to give feedback to a store,, please use those avenues for complaints. This thread is for Macys Employees to share information that can effect their livelihoods and for insiders to post about upcoming layoffs.

Oh boy! Welcome to trying to make brick out of straw. They don't care. Not so fond memories of calling and harassing clients on a daily basis for pre-sale. Even when the poor clients were just fed-up. Poorly trained store managers in the wrong jobs and no people or business skills. Huh, the nightmares that won't go away

Our restrooms reflect the customer base we now have. There's no keeping up with cleaning because of the lack of manners of the customers who now shop with us. Same ones who destroy the fitting rooms (pee and p–p on the floors there, too!), leave drink cups all over the store and drop their gun on the sidewalk. Not to mention dropping piles of stuff at the price checkers when they don't want that item. Total lack of class.

Referring to people as "GRUNTS" is an insult regardless of the situation.

Macy's is not the company as years prior, I am unsure what it has become. This is because of the horrible leadership up top, and nothing else. They do not know what they are doing and just throwing things out there to see what sticks.

Moving around diamond cases in Fine Jewelry is not going to make diamond's magically sell....
Putting merchandise on the aisle on a T Stand instead of a 4 way, also not going to make the product sell any quicker.

Adding work that is unnecessary, when we barely have enough staff to even check people out who are there to shop with us.

It makes me depressed to go everyday its just sad.

The only thing that keeps me going are my colleagues, we really have a great group of people and they are why I even continue to show up. And I am a CSX!

If I see one more survey to add more check out stands, that customers are not following guidelines and social distancing in lines, or the you do not have enough fitting rooms open...I may rip my hair out.

And then Store manager wants a "action plan" to fix our magic score. Ummmm can't make people social distance in line, can't make people wear a mask also can't control the fitting room guidelines we are following from the company. Sooooo what exactly is this action plan supposed to be about? Cant control the virus or how people are choosing to behave.

Oh and everyone is so stressed out and turning on each other, in my peer group anyway.

I wish you all a healthy and happy holiday season!

Lol to the last comment. You can’t sit down unless you’re on your break???? That’s pretty common for all retail. Lol

I am not an employee, but rather a customer. Stumbled upon this forum doing a Google search. I can tell you that in the STL area where I am Macy's are a dump, and that is putting it nicely. You are lucky to find one employee per floor, and when you do there is zero chance they can help you they are so run ragged. All the brands I used to shop for are gone - like Polo. The stores are dirty, dingy and haven't been updated since the Famous-Barr days (the regional store Macy's bought out and ran into the ground).

Nowadays I just do my shopping at Dillard's. They have the brands I want. They have employees and yeah, their stores may not be brand new either, but at least they are CLEAN.

I judge any store by their bathroom - and let me tell you the disgusting pig pens they call bathrooms at the Macy's in this area are ridiculous. If you can't keep your bathroom looking halfway decent, then that says a lot about how you take care of other things.

Good luck. You all are going to need it.
