Verizon ain't no Target. Ain't no Walmart or Dollar General either. No one needs to go to a store to buy a cell phone. Apples to oranges son...

Corporate retail is dying. Maybe won’t ever die off completely but it’s heading in that direction.

@1eqh+180OwvP4 I invested in Target , Walmart and Dollar General.....oh wait retail is dead though. Retail will never be dead. Maybe over saturated but never dead.

Did you want to invest in Hollywood Video or Blockbuster right now? Or Tower Records? Retail is the CD or DVD of today.

There will be no voluntary or enhanced offer folks. When they decide they are done with full time, they will terminate you (with severance), if you do not choose part time.

Yup just keep refusing to step down to 32 but make sure you are watching your back they will be coming for your head.

Willie Mays and Michael Jordan did the same thing.

If you hang in long enough there will certainly be a VSP for corporate retail store employees. Remember the main objective is to get everyone on a 24/32 hour work week. This will take several years if they dont offer a VSP. Obviously VZW leadership is not patient in making decisions so watch for it to come sooner then later.

I don't think retail clerks are valued enough by Verizon to offer them a VSP. Sorry. It will go down like this:

We are closing your store. You have three options:

1) Relocate to another store
2) Apply for another position within Verizon and get it
3) Take two weeks per year and get out

This has been happening, and will continue to happen quietly as leases run out and as takeovers are negotiated with indirect resellers. Hundreds of stores have been closed this year already. There is no outcry because it is death by a thousand tiny cuts and you don't even feel the cuts. No one cares anyways until THEIR lives are impacted directly.

Guys the Calvary is not coming over the hill. There will be no VSP.

VZ will simply rotate out of the current employees who remember what the ‘good times’ used to look like.

I get tired of these “take charge of your life”posts since I don’t think the majority of employees are just sitting around waiting for the axe to fall, but when I see multiple “if they would just offer the VSP” posts it makes me wonder.

They won’t leave on their own.

Same holding on for another VSP. I know for a fact that every remaining employee in my store would take it.

No thank you . I will wait for a VSP then collect while casually looking for a new job. I wish Verizon would do a survey to find out what percentage of retail employees would take a VSP. If I had to guess it would be about 20%.
