BP to Lay Off 10,000 By End of Year

I wonder why its always a round number for layoff news? Was there any sound math or logic used to build up that number of just a tops down number using an average cost per headcount?

With 2,500 leaving from Phase 2 EOI does anything think they will decide to go above 10,000 lay offs given the economic outlook has not improved and potentially worsened with Fall/Winter Covid plus the looming prospect of additional restrictions in Europe?

I believe you would get a full payout in 2021 if you work at all in December 2020.

For those who get a 12/31 severance date, if you can find any way to push it until 1/1 or later you can get a full vacation payout for 2021.

When does the formal 60 days notice start? The day you are notified or the day you receive paperwork in the mail?

If you are selected to exit by Dec 31, does your severance hit the last paycheck in Dec or in Jan 2021?

I thought it was 7500?

Yes, they have a very deliberate process for deciding the number of people to lay off - they choose a number that will satisfy investors.
