Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Before covid came around ...

I was well versed on current promotions and product knowledge. Now I don’t GAF. There must be thousands out there just like me...clerking a paycheck. Please offer me a package.

I get the frustration but don't leave Verizon. The grass is not greener. I took a package when they sent the Hilliard office home. Even without the bonuses and what not Verizon pays much better than other places for similar work.

As much as leadership wants to talk about metrics and numbers the retail corporate stores are basically service centers now. Honestly I would much rather do tech and troubleshooting stuff all day then sell phones. There use to be some level of excitement when we closed a 4 line port or a business account. Now nobody cares.

Verizon does not want to keep corporate locations. They will slowly transition them to indirect until there are a few left. AT&T is selling of hundreds of stores and Verizon will do the same. They have already been doing this.

@xxa+17lEbnVe But the indirect locations still have individualized commission pay plans. That’s what’s funny about directors and leadership being on board with the new team pay plan. When you count in the indirect locations which far outweigh the direct locations the majority of retail is still on pre covid commission plans. So in essence they support the new pay plan for only like 35% of the company and are ok with how everything else operates. Customer experience is still dramatically different shopping in an indirect location. Why ?

This is the result of directors believing in a group commision structure. Until all the employees have been replaced by ppl off the street this will continue. If you’ve made 2-4K commission in the past, your motivation is gone. It seems next step is no commission after a mass selloff of corporate locations to indirect.

I definitely have felt the same and it's funny you post this. I had the exact same thought process the other day. Now a days one phone can have 6 different promotions and it's all confusing as hell.

I'm by no means leaving anytime soon .. but phew is it hard.

Same, OP I could have wrote that my self. I just plug it into quote tool or just give the customer what they ask for. Sometimes I'll make a suggestion. Who cares anymore. We are best buy employees now

People don't leave because we are in the middle of a pandemic. Jobs are hard to find at the moment. With the uncertainty of where the world will be in the near future, a guaranteed paycheck is better than no paycheck. Albeit a much smaller paycheck. That's why I haven't left, yet.
